Preparation and Application
Perfect preparation & application: How to keep your luxury press-on set
-
Why proper preparation is crucial
Press-on nails are not only a stylish but also a time-saving alternative to the classic manicure – provided they are applied correctly.
Perfect adhesion begins with a well-prepared natural nail and the appropriate attachment method.
Whether for a special event or for several days: with the right technique, your nails will shine with flawless elegance.
1. Preparation of the natural nail
The basis for a long-lasting manicure is a well-prepared natural nail.
How to optimally prepare your nails:
-
Clean nails: Wash your hands thoroughly and remove any residue of oil or cream.
-
Carefully push back cuticles
-
Roughen the nail surface: Lightly mattify the nail surface with a buffer. This will help the press-on nail adhere better.
-
Remove dust: Brush or wipe off the filing dust thoroughly.
-
Degrease nails: Clean your nails with an alcohol swab or nail prep to ensure they are completely free of grease.
-
Adjust the nail edge: Use a nail file to file your press ons to fit perfectly to your cuticle edge
Tip: Let your nails dry completely for a few minutes after cleaning.
2. Application with adhesive pads
Adhesive pads offer quick, flexible and particularly gentle attachment:
-
Choose the right adhesive pad for each nail.
-
Remove the adhesive pad from the protective film and stick it in the center of the natural nail.
-
Press the pad down carefully and peel off the top protective film.
-
Position the press-on nail precisely on the nail bed and press it firmly for about 30 seconds.
Ideal if you only want to wear your press-ons for a special event.
3. Application with liquid nail glue
For extra long hold – perfect for several days to weeks:
-
Apply a small amount of nail glue directly to the natural nail or the back of the press-on nail.
-
Spread the glue evenly (not too much so that nothing oozes out).
-
Place the press-on nail at a slight angle (~45 degrees) on the nail bed and then slowly press it down.
-
Hold it for about 30-60 seconds.
Pro tip: Work nail by nail so the glue doesn't dry before you place the nail.
Care after application
-
Avoid contact with water or oil for the first few hours after application.
-
Apply cuticle oil to your cuticles regularly to keep your nails healthy and well-groomed.
-
If necessary, you can gently remove press-ons – depending on the type of attachment, we will explain how to gently remove your nails in another blog post.
